Felicity House – A Free Rehab Center for Women in Los Angeles
In a quiet part of West Los Angeles, there is a cozy two-story Victorian house. It looks just like the other homes in the neighborhood, with a white fence and a yard full of greenery. The only thing that makes a difference is that it is called Felicity House, and it holds a special place for the women who live there.
Providing Hope and Healing
It all started with the idea of helping people in need. Felicity House was established in 1974 by compassionate individuals who wanted to make a real difference in society. Their goal was to help women struggling with alcohol addiction. At that time, there were very few treatment options available for women. Even today, Felicity House remains one of the few affordable places in West Los Angeles where women can receive treatment at little or no cost.
A Safe and Supportive Home
Felicity House can accommodate up to nine women at a time. Living together in a supportive environment helps them focus on recovery and stay away from situations that may tempt them to drink or use drugs again, especially during the early stages of treatment.
A Helping Hand Since 1974
At Felicity House, women support one another like friends and family. They receive personal guidance and follow the 12-step philosophy, which helps them overcome addiction and build a healthier future.
There are also rules that residents must follow, such as returning home by a certain time, attending meetings, completing household chores, and setting personal goals.
These rules help women stay disciplined and focused on recovery. They also help residents address the challenges they faced while struggling with alcohol or drug addiction. Without the support provided by Felicity House, many women would find it difficult to rebuild their lives, find employment, resolve financial issues, and recover from past hardships.
